Prairie And Savanna Restoration

PERIOD: MARCH 1, 2004 – PRESENT
Contact: Prairie Fork

Organization: MO Dept. of Conservation, Univ. of Missouri, MO Prairie Foundation
Funding Source: Prairie Fork Trust

Objectives: This project is a cooperative effort between the Missouri Department of Conservation, the University of Missouri, and the Missouri Prairie Foundation. The goal is to control exotic species invasion in areas that are planned to be planted to native prairie and savanna plants. An important part of this project is to locate remnant prairie and savanna sites around the Prairie Fork Conservation Area. These remnant sites are then used for seed collections that are ultimately used to reconstruct diverse prairie and savanna habitats on Prairie Fork Conservation Area.
